Interpreting Services

We are committed to providing equal access to our services for all our patients and visitors. We place a high value on the respect and dignity of individuals and recognise the social and cultural diversity of the communities we serve.

As part of our commitment to ensuring equal access to our services, we offer a professional interpreting service for our patients.

An interpreting service is available for both inpatients and outpatients for Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) patients 24 hours a day and delivered by Word360.

You will be offered to have an interpreter in person, telephone or by video in all languages. This service will be offered to you at no cost.

All bookings require a minimum of 48 hours' notice to arrange a face-to-face interpreter to be present for your appointment. Otherwise, a telephone interpreter will be provided.

Our offer

  • British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters and video interpreting
  • foreign language translation
  • telephone interpreting any time, anywhere in our hospitals and community sites
  • translations of our printed health information leaflets in Braille, large print and easy read
  • hearing loops
