Partnership in care

We work with a large number of healthcare professionals, but we also recognise that parents and carers play a key role in the ongoing care of their child and we consider them an essential part of the team. We encourage all parents and carers to play an active role in their child's care while they are in hospital.

We understand that this can be an anxious time, but through supporting you to continue to provide normal activities of daily living such as play, education, basic hygiene needs, mealtimes, and psychological support can help you to feel a part of your child's care.

We aim to provide resources for your child or young person, including:

  • bed linen
  • nappies - one to two per patient
  • milk formula - initial feed only as part of emergency admission, this is limited to certain formulas and parents are encouraged to supply this thereafter
  • ear defenders for use whilst an inpatient
  • play resources

This list does not include every item, and if you have any concerns please speak to your allocated nurse.

If your child or young person has any preferences, we encourage you to bring anything that will make their stay more comfortable.
