Clinical guidance
Please follow the link below to the referral laboratory website for more information: https://www.nwlpathology.nhs.uk/test/chromagranin-a/ Please note, chromogranin B does not generally offer any additional clinical utility. Requesting chromogranin A measurement is sufficient for the investigation and monitoring of neuroendocrine tumours. Specimen requirements for chromogranin B measurement are the same as for chromogranin A. Monaghan, P.J., Lamarca, A., Valle, J.W., Hubner, R.A., Mansoor, W., Trainer, P.J. and Darby, D., 2016. Routine measurement of plasma chromogranin B has limited clinical utility in the management of patients with neuroendocrine tumours. Clinical endocrinology, 84(3), pp.348-352.
