Clinical guidance

Troponin I is a part of the troponin complex that plays an integral role in muscle contraction. It binds to actin in thin myofilaments to hold the actin-tropomyosin complex in place. Measurement of troponin I is used for the assessment of patients that present with acute coronary syndrome and chest pain.
