Test not routinely available. Arginine vasopressin (ADH) measurement has largely been superseded by copeptin assays, which provide a more stable and reliable surrogate marker for endogenous vasopressin secretion. Copeptin is increasingly used in the investigation of diabetes insipidus and primary polydipsia in specialist endocrine centres.
