Join us at our Research Showcase this month!

Our Research and Development department is excited to host this year’s Research Showcase across all four of our hospital sites in celebration of International Clinical Trials Day 2025.

This event will highlight the latest in research, development, and innovation from across University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB), showcasing the impactful work being carried out for the benefit of our patients, staff, and the citizens of Birmingham.

This year’s theme is Sustainability, with the tagline ‘Meeting the needs of the present, without compromising those of the future’.

Exhibits will explore sustainability in its broadest sense – from research aimed at reducing the NHS’s carbon footprint to initiatives supporting financial sustainability by reducing costs, improving efficiency and making better use of resources.

Discover how emergency departments are using artificial intelligence (AI) to manage patient flow, as well as research investigating whether reusable surgical drapes and gowns can be as effective as disposable ones in preventing wound infections.

Events will be taking place across our hospital sites on the following dates:

  • Monday 19 May, 10:00 – 15:00: Main Entrance, Solihull Hospital
  • Tuesday 20 May, 10:00 – 15:00: Atrium (Main Entrance), Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham
  • Tuesday 20 May, 10:00 – 15:00: Main Entrance (outside Pharmacy), Heartlands Hospital
  • Thursday 22 May, 10:00 – 15:00: Good Hope Hospital

With engaging, interactive displays and accessible presentations, the showcase will bring the world of research to life, making it more visible and accessible for everyone. Topics will cover a wide range of areas, including trauma, inherited metabolic diseases, surgery, haematology, dermatology, rheumatology, oncology, data, respiratory, and more.

Please notes exhibits will vary across the sites. At Good Hope Hospital, our researchers will be visiting our wards and departments to share more about their ongoing research.

We encourage all patients, staff, and members of the public to join us in celebrating the incredible research happening at UHB and discover how it is shaping the future of healthcare.
