Dr Pijush Ray will join Good Hope Hospital as its new Medical Director.

We are pleased to announce that after a rigorous recruitment process, Dr Pijush Ray, currently Deputy Chief Medical Officer and Health Care of the Elderly Consultant at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, will join Good Hope Hospital as its new Medical Director.

Dr Ray trained at the University of Calcutta, India, and qualified in 1987. He has specialty interests in frailty, dementia, delirium, general internal medicine, and geriatric medicine. He will join the Good Hope Hospital team on 17 February.

Our previous Medical Director, Dr Khaled Elfandi is now based at Heartlands Hospital, having rejoined the Stroke team as a Consultant.

We would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to Dr Elfandi who has been at the beating heart of Good Hope Hospital for many years. As well as being a key member of the hospital leadership team during COVID-19, where he supported colleagues both personally and professionally, he has worked closely with consultants and resident doctors to improve ways of working and their working environment, with patient safety at the forefront of everything he does.

We would also like to thank Dr Srikar Peri who, with the support of Dr Chirag Dave, Dr Teresa Quigley and Mr Tiramula Raju, has provided medical leadership to Good Hope Hospital in the interim.
