Fiona Hayes, a colorectal nurse associate, was nominated for the Stoma Nurse of the Year award and took home third place at a ceremony at BMA House in London on Friday 21 March 2025.

The BJN Awards celebrate excellence in nursing research and practice, recognising outstanding achievements and contributions within the nursing community. Nurses from across the country were honoured for their commitment, compassion, and innovation in healthcare.

Fiona, who has been a vital part of the colorectal team, expressed her gratitude and pride in the recognition. She said: “I am truly honoured to have been nominated for such a prestigious award, and I’m thrilled to have secured third place.

"This recognition means so much to me, not just as an individual but for the entire team I work with. It’s a reflection of the hard work and dedication of everyone at Good Hope Hospital who helps make a difference in the lives of our patients every day.”
