Our services

Our Allergy Service provides specialist assessment, diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of allergic conditions in both adults and children. For more information about paediatrics allergy service, please visit the link under "See also".

Conditions we can diagnose and manage

  • Urticaria (hives) and angioedema (swelling)
  • Food allergy
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Insect venom allergy (bee and wasp stings)
  • Allergic rhinitis (hay fever and allergies to house dust mite, animals and other airborne allergens)
  • Drug allergy
  • Latex allergy
  • Anaesthetic allergy (joint clinic with anaesthetists)

Conditions we do not routinely manage

Some conditions may appear similar to allergy but are not routinely managed within the Allergy Service. These include:

  • Eczema (atopic dermatitis)
  • Food intolerance
  • Lactose intolerance
  • Multiple chemical sensitivity
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS)
  • Contact dermatitis

If you or your child has one of these conditions, please speak to your GP, who can advise on the most appropriate service or specialist referral.
