Visors

Last updated: 28 October 2021 at 10:03

Eye protection, such as single use googles or full-face visors, must be worn (note prescription glasses do not provide adequate protection).

Visor

Visors are for sessional use and come in two types, disposable and reusable. Some types of visor can also be held more securely in place with bands across the back of the head.

Disposable visors

  • Foam or sponge attachment
  • Sessional or single use
  • Should be disposed of once removed

Reusable visors

  • JLR visors, goggles and 3D printed frames are reusable
  • Sessional use
  • These should be cleaned with Clinell wipes (or alternative wipe available) after use

Eye protection update

Although the number of COVID-19 cases has fallen significantly from what it was during the peak of the pandemic, we are still experiencing sustained transmission of the virus within the community. Therefore, it is important that staff continue to remain vigilant and follow Trust PPE guidance.

Eye protection should continue to be worn:

  • By those providing direct care within two metres of patients with possible or confirmed COVID-19
  • At all times where there is a risk of splashes with body fluids and whilst performing aerosol generating procedures, regardless of the patients’ COVID-19 status

Staff should be reassured that there are adequate supplies of eye protection available within the Trust to allow care to be delivered safely.

For any further eye protection queries, please contact the PPE team.
