The services offered to primary care are outlined in each modality:
Direct access imaging pathways for primary care
There are now six direct access pathways open to primary care:
- Urgent chest X-ray
- Ultrasound renal (CKD/decrease in eGFR)
- Ultrasound pelvis (ovarian cancer pathway for premenopausal women)
- CT TAP (weight loss)
- CT KUB (renal colic/pain)
- MRI brain imaging (suspected brain cancer)
Certain criteria must be met for each pathway and the primary care practitioner will be expected to provide evidence to justify the direct referral.
