The services offered to primary care are outlined in each modality:

• Plain film
• Ultrasound
• CT
• MRI
• Other modalities

Direct access imaging pathways for primary care

There are now six direct access pathways open to primary care:

• Urgent chest X-ray
• Ultrasound renal (CKD/decrease in eGFR)
• Ultrasound pelvis (ovarian cancer pathway for premenopausal women)
• CT TAP (weight loss)
• CT KUB (renal colic/pain)
• MRI brain imaging (suspected brain cancer)

Certain criteria must be met for each pathway and the primary care practitioner will be expected to provide evidence to justify the direct referral.
