To fit a Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD), an internal line will be tunnelled from your heart and connected to an external system controller. A dressing will be needed to cover the exit wound on your abdomen. An aseptic dressing will be required every three days to prevent infection of the area and internal infection.
