Accommodation

Accommodation is available at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (QEHB) on the Relatives' Wing for relatives of patients and the Bromley Wing for patients undergoing regular radiotherapy treatment.

Bromley Wing

If you need to attend QEHB regularly for radiotherapy treatment and live some distance away then you can stay in the Bromley Wing.

The Bromley Wing is situated on second floor of Nuffield House which is opposite the main building of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Heritage Building and is open 24 hours a day from Monday to Friday.

The Bromley Wing has a lounge and dining room where you can sit and watch television, or just enjoy the company of other residents.

There is also a quiet room where you can sit and spend some time on your own. You may wish to make the most of your visit to Birmingham and want to explore surrounding areas.

The wing is not a hospital ward and you are free to come and go as you please; all that we ask is that you inform the accommodation officer when you leave the building.

Meals will be provided during your stay in the wing. A kitchen is also available if you want to prepare snacks and drinks.

The Bromley Wing is not staffed by nurses, so it may not be appropriate for you if you have medical or nursing needs. If you would normally be living at home when attending hospital to receive your treatment and are able to care for yourself you will probably be able to stay.

When your consultant's team request a reservation, details will be taken and a health and safety assessment will be made as to whether we will be able to offer you accommodation on the wing.

Although nursing staff do not work on the wing, there is a direct telephone line to the hospital which gives access to medical staff in the event of an emergency.

Relatives' Wing

The Relatives' Wing is a 16-bed unit in Nuffield House, directly opposite the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Heritage Building.

The unit is set up to offer relatives of inpatients close accommodation whilst their family members are receiving treatment.

  • We are unable to accommodate children under the age of 16
  • Animals are not permitted on the Relatives' Wing

Most of the bedrooms have twin beds, with the provision of fresh linen. There are the following facilities within the wing:

  • Bathroom
  • Shower
  • Toilet
  • Kitchenette
  • Lounge

Relatives staying on the wing are entitled to purchase meals from the staff restaurant (situated in the basement of Nuffield House) at discount prices.

Relatives are also entitled to join the Morris Centre (sporting facilities) for a small charge.

The cost of this accommodation is £35.00 per night for a single stay and £45.00 per night for a twin stay. Prices are reviewed every April.
